The Glorious Cheat Day!

I traveled to Oshkosh this past Saturday to visit my best friend, my bff, my bro, my home slice, Zach.

After catching up for a bit I suggested we eat some insane amounts of ice cream, cookies, or whatever other treats we preferred.

We decided on cookies and ice cream. A fine choice I must say.

After picking up one of his friends to join us in our feast, we went to the grocery store, picked out our desired treats, and went back to his house to do some damage.

The tasty treats we decided on were vanilla ice cream, Neapolitan ice cream, soft batch chocolate chip cookies, coconut dream cookies, and for toppings hot fudge and caramel. Mmmm! Continue reading

The 5 Highest Calorie Starbucks Drinks

This gallery contains 2 photos.

Ah Starbucks, the Promised Land, a land flowing with Lattes and Frappuccinos; the Mecca of all things coffee all around the world.

For all of you daily Starbucks users out there, this post is for you. It could help you make some better coffee choices, drop a few pounds, or heck, even save your life someday (you can thank me later).

Now, I must say, I drink coffee nearly every morning. I head to the local coffee shop in the morning for my daily cup, nothing special, just a cup of coffee (I go more for the environment and to get work done, not the coffee itself, but we’ll talk about that a different day). Continue reading

Fat Loss Workout: High Intensity Interval Training

This gallery contains 2 photos.

High intensity interval training has been proven to be one of the best ways to lose body fat. This isn’t even debatable; it works, plain and simple as that. I personally love it and have been using it for quite some time. Despite the effectiveness of this mode of training, many people don’t utilize it, but why is this? Continue reading

Exercising After Athletics

This gallery contains 2 photos.

Being active after your athletics career is over can be a challenge. You tend to do the whole finding a job thing, getting married, and having kids; all things that take up your precious time and move exercising to the back-burner. I’ve been out of organized competitive sports for a year now and remaining active has at times been a big struggle for me.
From the 4th grade through my senior year of college I’ve been on a sports team. The incentive to working out was always rather simple – workout and get better at your sport.

Immediately after my last season of football last fall I took a lot of time off from training. I was worn out and had all sorts of little physical aches and pains from the rigors of a football season and I knew I needed to recover.

10 Tips to Make Exercising a Habit for Life

This gallery contains 3 photos.

I’m a personal trainer and former athlete. I have been active throughout my entire life, however I do understand something – not everyone likes to exercise. You may be one of those people.Maybe you had a bad experience with exercising in gym class. Maybe you don’t like to sweat. Maybe you dislike the smell of a fitness center. Maybe you have just never been in that great of shape and always found exercising difficult. Heck, maybe you just don’t really know how to exercise and so you simply do nothing instead.

You might wonder how other people can work out so much. How can they do it every single week, month, and year? I promise they are human beings just like you and not some crazy different species. To help you better understand how some people can work out consistently and others can never seem to hit their stride you first have to understand this: there are no set rules for what you have to do for exercise.
